OM in Ukraine Give a gift today Since Russia launched military attacks on Feb 24, 2022 millions have had homes destroyed and been dispaced from their communities looking of safety elsewhere. Ministry in the midst of the Conflict The conflict in Ukraine has evolved through multiple stages over the past 10 years leading to the full-scale Russian invasion in February 2024. Since then approximately 6.5 million refugees have been counted, with 3.6 million currently internally displaced. 2/3 of all children are displaced, and more than 50% of all those officially employed are unemployed or temporarily unemployed. Economically, the war is severely impacting vulnerable populations. Millions have had homes destroyed. Up to 200,000 people have lost their lives, including 10,582 (as of February 2024) civilians, of whom more than 587 are children. More than 19,800 civilians have been wounded. The continued shelling of strategic infrastructure caused significant damage, affecting access to water, electricity, central heating, natural gas, and fuel. Banks, bridges, hospitals, residences, children's homes, and schools have been shelled. In partnership with many churches and charity organisations, OM in Ukraine is reacting to the needs of thousands through providing aid and financing humanitarian aid efforts, supporting psychological aid efforts and counselling, supporting the chaplaincy movement, ministry to war widows and orphans, training, building projects, and evangelism, as well as supporting church planting efforts. Depending on the fluent situation, we are likewise prepared to react by evacuating people from dangerous areas, receiving refugees, and supporting the relocation of IDPs.
