Happy Resurrection Day!

In today’s world, the true meaning of Easter is at risk of being lost. While the world celebrates with chocolate eggs, bunnies, baskets, and pastel-coloured festivities, the sacred celebration of Christ’s victory over death has quietly been overshadowed. But Easter was never meant to be about candy or consumerism. It is about something far greater—something eternal. It’s about a Cross, a Grave, and the glorious truth that Christ is risen.

The resurrection of Jesus Christ is the single most significant event in human history. It’s not merely a hopeful story for spiritual inspiration—it is the very foundation of Christian faith. On this day, we remember that death is not the end of the story. The empty tomb speaks volumes: The stone was rolled away. Jesus has conquered death. Our Saviour lives. And everything changed.

Because He lives, We can face tomorrow

According to the Bible, Easter is not about what we do, but about what God has done. Romans 5:8 says, “But God demonstrates His own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” The death of Jesus was not a tragic end to a good life—it was a divine rescue mission. On the cross, Jesus bore the weight of our sin, our shame, and our separation from God.

But Easter didn’t end at the cross. As the firstborn of new creation (Col. 1:15, 18) and the heir of all things (Heb.1:2), Christ is showing humanity that death is not the end of our story either. It’s a brutal and mysterious part of our story, but in the light of Christ, we can believe that our life does not end in earthly death. God’s love carries us through, and death loses its sting in the face of Jesus’ resurrection promise. This is the indestructible life we celebrate on Easter Sunday, the life of Jesus!

Three days later, the stone was rolled away. The tomb was empty. Jesus had risen. As the angel told Mary at the tomb: “He is not here; He has risen, just as He said” (Matthew 28:6). The resurrection proved that Jesus was, who He said He was—Lord, Saviour, and King. It validated every promise He made. It broke the power of sin and death. It opened the way for us to be reconciled with God forever.

As we celebrate Easter, here are a few passages of Scripture to meditate on the resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ (Matthew 28, Luke 24: 13-49, and John 20:11-29)

A Commission and a Celebration

The population of the earth is over 8 billion people, and the truth about Easter is not such a big deal for a lot of the world, even for many professing Christians. Part of what Easter does mean for all who have discovered the profound, life-changing significance of it, is that we must make sure the rest of the world will NOT continue to have meaningless Easters.

From the angel at the tomb through the final words of Jesus at His ascension, the Easter story is so significant, we must make sure that those who don’t know the message of the Gospel have a chance to hear and receive it. We must share the Gospel message!

So how can we celebrate Easter, here are a few simple ideas to share its true meaning:

  1. Watch a faith-filled movie with friends or family. ‘The Passion of the Christ,’ ‘Risen,’ or ‘The Chosen’ can help bring the Easter story to life.
  2. Host an Easter meal with neighbours or friends, and take the opportunity to share the Gospel message with them.
  3. Read the Resurrection passages together—Matthew 28, Luke 24:13–49, and John 20:11–29—and discuss with those around you, what they mean for our lives today.
  4. Write letters or prayers of thanksgiving to God for the gift of eternal life through Jesus.
  5. Attend a worship service, and sing with joy: Christ is risen indeed!

So, this Resurrection Sunday, we remember that Christ defeated death, new life began, and an event worth celebrating with clear hearts and undivided devotion. Let’s do all we can to make sure no one has a meaningless Easter. Let’s tell the old, old story of Jesus and His love.

A Prayer for Easter Sunday: Almighty God, who through your only-begotten Son Jesus Christ overcame death and opened to us the gate of everlasting life: Grant that we, who celebrate with joy the day of the Lord’s resurrection, may, by your life-giving Spirit, be delivered from sin and raised from death; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.
