Join this exciting opportunity to volunteer onboard Logos Hope during her Waves of Hope tour!

Below you'll find three ways that you can get involved in ports across the UK.

1. DEEP Volunteering

Ready to dive deeper?

The DEEP Programme is more than volunteering — it’s an immersive experience onboard MV Logos Hope.

Over the course of one week, you’ll join hearts and hands with crew members as you grow in:

  • Discipleship
  • Exposure to Missions
  • Expressions of Love
  • Practical Work

You won’t just serve — you’ll explore your identity in Christ, discover God’s purpose in the world, and see how you fit into that story. This programme also includes one ministry day on shore with our crew!

DEEP participants spend approxiamately 8 hours per day onboard and are expected to attend every day of the programme.  If you’re ready to grow, be stretched, and be part of something bigger than yourself, DEEP is for you!

2. Port Helpers

Can’t commit to the full DEEP experience but still want to be involved?

Serve where you can!

As a Port Helper, you’ll receive an introduction to the ship and can volunteer flexibly — evenings, weekends, or whenever your schedule allows.

Depending on your skills, you may even be invited to be involved in specific projects or events.

It’s a great way to serve practically and be part of the excitement in a way that works for you.

3. Alumni

Have you previously served onboard an OM ship or in an OM field?

As alumni, you already understand the heartbeat behind the mission — and we would love to welcome you onboard Logos Hope!

There may be special opportunities for you to serve onboard in different roles, possibly for the full duration of the ship’s time in the UK.

Frequently Asked Questions

Volunteering onboard MV Logos Hope is a unique and enriching experience. Volunteers build meaningful friendships, gain insight into life and work on a ship, and—depending on the programme—grow in their faith through discipleship, encouragement, and practical service.

No prior experience is required, just a willingness to serve and step out of your comfort zone! Those who have previously served with OM or the Ships may be eligible for additional volunteering opportunities.

Time commitments vary by programme:

  • DEEP Programme: This requires participation in the full 5–7 day programme due to the included discipleship course.
  • Port Helpers: This offers more flexibly, depending on your availability. However, roles are limited.

Volunteering is free. However, volunteers are responsible for arranging and covering their own accommodation and transportation to and from the ship.

Unfortunately, onboard accommodation is not available for volunteers due to limited space. Therefore, participants must arrange their own accommodation.

Yes, all volunteers receive basic ship safety training and on-the-job training within their assigned department.
Participants in the DEEP Programme will also take part in a discipleship course alongside their service.

Volunteer roles vary based on programme needs and individual skills. Tasks may include:

  • Supporting the bookfair, kitchen, or cleaning teams
  • Assisting as a tour guide (training provided)
  • Helping with events and visitor engagement

Yes, friends and family are welcome to apply and serve together! Each individual must submit a separate application, and placements are subject to availability.

In order to apply, you will go through the following steps:

  1. Complete and submit the initial form below, upon which you will be redirected to the application form
  2. Complete and submit the Ship’s Volunteer Application Form
  3. Ask a pastor or church leader to complete a Recommendation Form
  4. Attend an interview if shortlisted
  5. Receive further instructions from the team

Before the ship’s arrival, local port teams will guide applicants through the process, including applications, interviews, and pre-ship orientation. Once onboard, Volunteer Coordinators will provide support and supervision throughout the volunteering period.
