This is an exciting outreach opportunity to sail down the Nistru River by your very own team-built wooden raft to reach least reached with the Gospel! 

This cross-cultural outreach team will venture to different villages to encourage local believers and hold evangelistic programmes.

You'll be encouraging the local churches, reaching children and youth with the love of Jesus, and worshiping God in the splendour of nature. Through this cross-cultural experience, you will have the amazing opportunity to grow in your faith and relationship with God.

Ministry Details

Members of this team will build their own raft out of oil drums and wooden planks. The team will float and row between up to 5 different villages along the Nistru River in the east of Moldova. The team will journey to the more unreached villages in Moldova to share the Gospel through youth and children’s programmes. Depending on the village, the team may also have the opportunity to visit families and elderly in their homes and demonstrate the love of Christ through practical service. The team will camp each night and will be on the river for 3 to 5 hours each day or every other day.

Participant Profile

Participants should be swimmers, adventurous, flexible, willing to be stretched and ready to camp each night in tents or under the stars.  Do you want to be challenged in your faith and experience God in a new way through cross-cultural ministry? Accommodation

You will stay at the OM centre in Chisinau on arrival and before departure where you will have a debrief. During the outreach you will sleep in tents. Please note that it may not be possible for groups, families or married couples to remain together in the same accommodation. 

Food

The teams will prepare their own meals while on outreach. Please come ready to serve together alongside the team and advise us if you have any special dietary requirements.

Travel

Participants must arrange their own travel to and from Chisinau, Moldova (RMO). Participants will be picked up by OM team members at the airport, train, or bus station and taken back to the airport, train or bus station after the outreach. The dates above include the arrival and departure days.

Please do not book flights unless you have received an official acceptance email from the short-term opportunities team.

Health

Participants must be in good health and physically able to stand, bend, lift, walk, row for several hours and do other physical activities as needed. You must be able to swim. Participants must have appropriate medical and travel insurance.

Visa

British citizens do not require a visa to enter Moldova for less than 90 days. All other passports you should check if a visa is required.

OM Moldova are not able to provide a Letter of Invitation in every case. Please check if you will require one on this website and if you do, please contact us about this before applying. Please note that it is the responsibility of each traveller to ensure they obtain the necessary visa(s) required for entry into the country that they plan to visit. We strongly recommend that all visa applications be submitted to the relevant consular website as per their specified requirements well in advance of your intended travel date, this could be up to 8-12 weeks in advance.

If a visa is denied or not obtained in time, we are unable to offer any reimbursement for flight costs or any other travel-related expenses. All bookings are made at the traveller’s own risk, and we advise confirming placement/outreach approval before making any non-refundable travel arrangements.

Individuals applying must be 18 or over. Under 18's are welcome to apply as part of a youth group, but must be able to swim, have parental consent and be accompanied by a responsible adult. Please contact us before registering minors. 

As part of our Safeguarding policy, you will require a valid enhanced DBS certificate, which may cost up to an additional £30.
