We receive guests from Ireland and the world to our guest facilities at Lacken House each year. It's a place of training, retreat and fellowship. From here, we send people out all over Ireland to impact the local community. You can help us make this possible by looking after our guests, helping in daily hospitality tasks and other practical needs. As a volunteer you'll prepare the rooms for our guests & look after them during their stay, and make sure they'll feel welcome and at home with us!

Details of Ministry

You'll help with the daily running of the guesthouse, preparing rooms for guests, maintaining the general areas, welcoming people in and cleaning after they leave. You'll be part of the local OM team, and so have plenty of opportunity to get involved in some local ministries, as well as enjoy fellowship as you work together. If this lies in your interests and giftings, there are sometimes opportunities for catering and practical maintenance work on site as well.  

Participant Profile

You enjoy serving the Lord through practical work and working in the background.
You are flexible, see what needs to be done and are able to organise yourself.
You are physically able for manual labour.

Accommodation

You'll be staying at Lacken House. Couples will have a room or chalet for themselves, individuals might have to share a room with people from the same gender, dependent on occupancy. Lacken House is in a rural setting, there is no public transport options to and from Lacken House. Bedding and towels are provided, and there are laundry facilities on site.

Food

You'll be responsible for your own meals. Team members can take you into town for shopping etc. 

Travel

You'll need to fly into Ireland and take a bus to Athlone, Longford or Roscommon.  From there you will be collected by a member of the OM Ireland team and brought to Lacken House. You could consider renting a car at the airport for your stay here. 

Please do not book flights unless you have received an official acceptance email.

Health

You'll need to be able for manual work, though there's flexibility in the schedule to manage your own time and spread out tasks if needed. If you think there might be limitations, just reach out to us and we see what might be possible. Please, let us know of any medical conditions or health concerns upon application.

Visa

British citizens can enter and remain in Ireland without a visa. 

Please note that it is the responsibility of each traveller to ensure they obtain the necessary visa(s) required for entry into the country that they plan to visit. This excludes destination countries for Ships related travel. We strongly recommend that all visa applications be submitted to the relevant consular website as per their specified requirements well in advance of your intended travel date, this could be up to 8-12 weeks in advance.

If a visa is denied or not obtained in time, we are unable to offer any reimbursement for flight costs or any other travel-related expenses. All bookings are made at the traveller’s own risk, and we advise confirming placement/outreach approval before making any non-refundable travel arrangements.

Price is subject to change according to the exchange rate. Cost excludes flights, insurance, any possible vaccinations, £50 deposit and DBS if required.

Individuals applying must be 18 or over.

Minors are welcome to apply as part of a family or youth group but must have parental consent and be accompanied by a responsible adult.

Families are welcome, but we would like to to know more about your family before you apply to ensure it is suitable - small kids, baby, etc. 

As part of our Safeguarding policy, you will require a valid enhanced DBS certificate, which may cost up to an additional £30.
