Ministry Details

The main activities will focus on reaching out to people in public spaces. This includes helping at book tables, distributing Christian tracts, and having one-to-one conversations about faith with locals and international visitors. The team will listen, answer questions, and offer prayer when appropriate.

The team will work alongside local churches and ministries in Glasgow, supporting their outreach during the Commonwealth Games. There may also be prayer walks and participation in church events. Participants who are good at street drama, music, busking, or storytelling are very welcome to use these creative gifts as additional ways to connect with people and share the message of hope and love in Christ.

Team members will receive clear briefing about the spiritual climate of Scotland and will be trained up with some practical skills before and during the outreach. We hope this will help everyone feel prepared to share their faith in a friendly, respectful, and confident way.

Please note: some details of this plan may change depending on local circumstances and numbers of volunteers.

Participant Profile

We are looking for participants who love Jesus, know the gospel, and are willing to share their faith. Team members should be friendly, open, and able to communicate in English, as Glasgow is an international city.

This outreach involves long hours outdoors, walking or standing for extended periods, and adapting to unpredictable Scottish weather. Participants should be ready for one-to-one conversations and engaging with people from different backgrounds.

Those with gifts in evangelism, music, storytelling, art, or creative outreach are welcome to use them if shared in advance. Some may be invited to share their personal testimony, but no one is required to speak publicly.

Participants should be respectful, flexible, teachable, and willing to serve as part of a team, supporting local churches and sharing God’s love through presence, conversation, and prayer.

Accommodation

You will be staying with church families or with local ministers in Glasgow and the surrounding area. Public transport will be necessary between your accommodation and meeting places.

You may be asked to share a room with people of the same sex. Double beds for couples can not be guaranteed. Some accommodation will have Wi-Fi, but is not guaranteed.  You may be required to bring a sleeping bag. Accommodation can not be guaranteed to be  wheelchair accessible.

Food

You will be staying with church hosts, but meals are not guaranteed, so please plan to buy your own food. Please budget at least £15–£20 per day for meals. In total, you should set aside approximately £225 for transport and food, in addition to the registration fee and personal travel costs to and from Glasgow.  Some meals such as breakfast or dinner may be provided by the hosts but this cannot be guaranteed. We can cater for vegetarians.

Please let us know in advance if you have any allergies to see if we will be able to accommodate your requirements.

You need to arrange your own travel to Glasgow. More travel information will be available upon acceptance.

Please do not book any travel until you have received an official acceptance email from us.
