This is a Discipleship Mission Exposure with a Cross-cultural set up. Participants take a set route within Southern Africa for three months visiting different countries. Africa Trek will run with Trekkies and Leaders learning & travelling together. Participants get involved in diverse ministry experience such as preaching, teaching Sunday School, showing the Jesus Film and Community Development involvement prepared by the host country. Participant Profile Africa Trek is for Christians ready to step out of their comfort zone. You should be a team player, self motivated and someone ready to share and learn new languages. You should be teachable and ready to grow and experience God on this adventure! Accommodation Accommodation on the Trek will be basic in shared, same-sex accommodation. Food Food will be prepared communally and the team will be eating together. If you have special dietary requirements - please inform us during the application process. Travel All participants to fly to Julius Nyerere Intenational Airport in Dar es Salaam where the Trek will start from and those using buses to drop off at Dar es Salaam main bus station. Please do not book any flights until you have received confirmation of acceptance. Health Participants must be generally in good health. You must have a valid yellow fever certificate. Participants with health challenges or dietary may be asked to provide a medical report . Visa You will be travelling through Southern Africa and it will be your responsibility to research beforehand what countries you need to apply for visas for ahead of time, and how much it will cost at the borders. Visa to enter Tanzania and Zambia must be obtained prior to travel (countries to be visited will be communicated upon acceptance). Please note that it is the responsibility of each traveller to ensure they obtain the necessary visa(s) required for entry into the country that they plan to visit. We strongly recommend that all visa applications be submitted to the relevant consular website as per their specified requirements well in advance of your intended travel date, this could be up to 8-12 weeks in advance. If a visa is denied or not obtained in time, we are unable to offer any reimbursement for flight costs or any other travel-related expenses. All bookings are made at the traveller’s own risk, and we advise confirming placement/outreach approval before making any non-refundable travel arrangements. Notes Price is subject to change according to the exchange rate. As part of our Safeguarding policy, you will require a valid enhanced DBS certificate, which may cost up to an additional £30. Applicants must be 18 or over. Different languages will be spoken in the different areas that you will travel to, but the language the Trek group will communicate in is English. Therefore a reasonable level of English is required. You will be responsible for your own immunisations and anti-malaria medication.
